NO BUSES? – OXFORD STREET TRANSFORMATION

You might have read media reports on the consultation process with TfL, City of Westminster and the Mayor of London for the pedestrianisation of Oxford Street and the diversion of the buses.

Under the proposal all buses are diverted off Oxford Street between Selfridges and Oxford Circus.

The main implications for Mayfair is changing the traffic flow

  • Changing to SOUTH down Park Street from Oxford Street to Upper Brook Street
  • Changing to NORTH up North Audley Street from Grosvenor Square to Oxford Street

Other minor changes to traffic flow will be the changing to two way traffic on Binney Street and Gilbert Street.

This has been a major consultation process and if you want to see the computer modelling or obtain further details I recommend you visiting the website:

URGENT – you had better get a move on

because the consultation process opened on the 6th November and closes on 17th December 2017.

GROSVENOR SQUARE CONSULTATION

Grosvenor, as Landlords, are taking back control of Grosvenor Square Gardens from Royal Parks.

They have launched a consultation process after a poll revealed that only 9 per cent of Londoners are very familiar with Grosvenor Square,
London’s second largest square.

Personally I believe that the Residents of Mayfair would find that quite a positive statistic – however the trend is for inclusiveness and not exclusiveness.

If you want to spend 3 minutes and absorb Grosvenor’s 20 year vision, then I suggest you watch this film and explore their website.

GROSVENOR VISION – Website link: http://vision.grosvenorlondon.com/Shaping-the-square-film

Will Bax, Executive Director, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said:  “We have a vision to transform our London estate to be more open and accessible,

and Grosvenor Square’s evolution underlines our commitment.

Mayfair is an important district for the West End and an asset to London, but we think it could do more for the capital.”
