Turmoil in the financial markets has proved that in uncertain times blue-chip investments are the order of the day. In property terms translates to location, location and location.
In recent years Mayfair has seen a resurgence of interest in residential property resulting from buildings reverting to residential from offices and prices, like all of central London, have seen dramatic rises. However, Far Eastern and Russian purchasers have been few and far between in Mayfair and therefore the market has not suffered as a result.
Mayfair, always a mature market, suffers least from the severe peaks and troughs of the market and looks well placed to weather any future storm.

The graph opposite shows the number of Mayfair properties that exchanged contracts since the beginning of the year, with the 23 properties sold in June reflecting demand from purchasers in the spring.
Recent notable sales include two flats in Mount Row which achieved, on average, £542 per square foot and two flats overlooking the Mount Street Gardens which achieved in excess of £500 per square foot, albeit on 35 year leases.
Two exceptional houses, in Hays Mews and Woods Mews, achieved prices of £608 per square foot and £800 per square foot respectively.
